About Tiaki Wai

Tiaki Wai is the metropolitan Wellington water services organisation, jointly owned by Wellington City, Porirua, Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt councils with Greater Wellington and mana whenua. From 1 July 2026 it operates drinking water, wastewater and stormwater across the four cities — the ~6,300 km network, reservoirs and pump stations previously delivered by Wellington Water — plus Greater Wellington's bulk-water supply.
